No Aims for October...

... because I'm still lack of sewing inspiration!
(and I'm also lack of writing inspiration)

I stared and stared these options looooooooong time, many hours, I think.
Then I frustrated and decided to do it
and 'went over the lowest fence'.

So this table runner is now ready for quilting and binding.
And who knows, when that will happen...???

Merry, Merry Snowmen Block 1 is ready...
... second block is prepared.
Aren't those snowmen funny at the bus stop?

The evenings are dark and without a good light source it's annoying to do applique patterns in the evening.

That's why I dug up yarn stash, I found a nice tweed yarn and I started to knit a cardigan. The back piece is knitted and yesterday I started the other front piece.

Hopefully I finish it...
because it's a time when the last time I knit cardigan till the end. In recent years, I haven't been knitting no bigger things than socks.

I hope that all kinds of INSPIRATIONs will come back soon!
Because it would be nice to show & tell you more than I have recently done...
until then...

HAPPY NEW WEEK!

A Tale Without Name

Sometimes it's difficult to think of a nice and interesting title...

and sometimes it's VERY difficult to decide, how you finish your tablerunner! Although I have a good pattern, I would like to personalize it...

1. Do I sew wider black borders? Maybe not... it looks too furry...

2. Those birds on Funky Fall fabric looks purfect! But maybe not in this tablerunner... makes it look too restless!

3. Maybe the cream background fabric is the best choice?

... or maybe a hint of purr - orange?
What do you think about that, Satu?

This is something to think about more...

Meanwhile I continued with the BOMs.

Last week I received the fourth block of 2012 Designer Mystery. It's designed by Aneela Hoey.
I'm bit of proud of myself, because this BOM is the only one, which I have been sewn so called in 'normal schedule' - so far...

Oh no, still no idea, what to do with the borders...

The first block of Merry, Merry Snowmen is almost stitched...
and guess what,
now I'm thinking, do I embroider them or sew black buttons....
;o) Nice,
that is enough to think about - the brains won't get rusty...

What about cream borders with quilted vines and stars?
Hmm, might look nice... I'll go and check it now...

See you... and happy new week!

BOMholic is Back ;o)

So it happened
that I had to spend some money other things than the fabrics...
It was really odd feeling to live without computer, but at the same time I noticed how much time it spares.
Would it be wiser to do something else than sit front of this new machine?
Is it only a waste of time?
Although I had a good opportunity to sew and do everything else... I didn't do.... not at least much, which would be of worth mentioning.

Jotain valmista joka kuukausi - työni on tässä kuussa syksyinen Kurpitsa -liina. Mallin on suunnitellut Cheryl Gunn. Aloitin sen viime syksynä ja se on ensimmäinen KONEapplikaatio työni. Kyllä, luit ihan oikein ;o) En ole koskaan aikaisemmin tehnyt pykäpistoja koneella.

My project in Jotain valmista joka kuukausi -challenge is Black Bird's Pumpkin Patch -tablerunner. It's designed by Cheryl Gunn. I started it last fall and it's my very first one machine appliqued work. Yes, I really mean it ;o) I have never done the blanket stitches by machine before this quilt.

Maybe I have too many times told you that I'm addicted to BOMs. Specifically the BOMs, which are designed by Anne Sutton and purchased from Fat Quarter Shop. I know it well that they takes much of time... and money too... BUT a new BOM Pumpkinville is starting in this Autumn...

... and I think, that time and money, which is spent, is worth!
I only hope, when I gave this quilt to someone, she or he will realize it too!

Oh, Fenix... it's a photography time... without you... I suppose???

But purr-hei, the roof of this house doesn't have a cat!
Haven't you noticed it, Satu?
You silly, Fenix!

Let's talk about Anne's other BOM then...

It's Merry, Merry Snowmen.
And I adore these French General's fabrics... deliciously elegant, I think.
Am I silly BOMholic now?

Maybe, but this is perfectly fun BOM rehab life ;o)

It's also fun to see what the other rehabbers have done in the past week!

And can you imagine,
it feels quite good to sit at the front of the computer and 'talk' with you!
Oh, am I computerholic too?

for what it's worth... oli miten oli...
WE Wish YOU an EnJOYable WEEK!!!

ELOKUU - Jotain valmista OR OPAMs in August

I did it!
'Winter Vanilla' (55cm x 55 cm) is finished!!
Oh, do I hear some tiny applause ,o)

I was thinking hard quilting figures.

First I thought of some kind of bare branches pattern, which I saw at Leah's blog. But it was difficult to sew in those small cream background areas. Even the practicing with the pen didn't helped...

I almost gave up... until I figured and remembered the shape of vanilla flowers... and vanilla pod...

I'm pretty sure, if you think hard... you can see them here ;o)

I quilted mainly with the white thread, only the vanilla pods are quilted with the brown variegated thread.

All the squares are 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"...
so the churn dash blocks are no more than 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". The churn dash blocks I stitched in the ditch.

The backing fabric is Antique 1800's Blends from In The Beginning fabrics. I love those graphic birds and flowers! The binding fabric is dusty green from one of the Lecien's collection.

Apparently you all are now tired of my stories about 'Winter Vanilla'... I promise you this was the last tale of it ;o)

This hexagon pincushion is my other OPAM in August.
Oh, I wish I could be more productive in the future!

But now
I wish you a great weekend;o)

PS. If you don't hear of me for a little while, it's a sign that my computer will be broken. Lately I have had big problems opening it. Maybe I must go to the computer shop instead of the quilt shop... hmmm...

A Life at the Sidings

Lately I have deeply been wondering, shall I ever finish anything?
Or do I just circles like these vines on our balcony?

Oh, you see... I have done circle with flowers... partly...

What else?

Fenix, it's all too small roof for you!

You see...

I have appliqued a house for the next Raining Cats and Dogs block 4... partly...

 And...

I have played with the new ruler....

It's X- Blocks' belly button. The block size is 3 1/4".

Hmmm... the blocks look like raspberries...

Oh, Satu, while you are playing with the raspberries---

I'm gonna take a PURR -nap.... krooooooh -pur!

All eight Summer (Autumn) Stars are sewed...

part of them look like a disaster... KRRR...

But THE THING, which supposedly interest all of us IS

what's going on with the tablerunner 'Butterchurn'....

not much, but I'm still smiling;o)

The top is finished.
I have choosed the backing and the binding fabrics

and I think, I won't call it as a 'Butterchurn' anymore...

from here it will be a 'WINTER VANILLA'

As you can see, my quilting life is off track... without a trace or clue...
But is it true...
if you do not get lost, you'll never find anything new?

 Festival of Hexies
There's still one more week left.
Hmm... I planned to sew something else today,
but I hardly can resist a cute hexagon pincushion ;o)

 Happy Sunday!

Nyt kierrättämään...

PS. Olen aiemmin osallistunut 'ulkomaiseen' Pay It Forward -haasteeseen. Siitä jäi pelkkää hyvää kerrottavaa. Lisäksi sain yhden todella ihanan tilkkuystävän Hollannista, joten kannustan kaikkia kolmea osallistumaan ;o)

PPS. Today I wrote finnish, because I took part in to the finnish Pay It Forward -challenge. I reserve first three places to finnish reader, but if there isn't three finnish, who are interested in... I can take along one or two from the abroad ;o) Let me know, if you are interested in and I'll tell you the 'rules' later!
