Aurifil Designer 2014 December - Not Afraid of Flying

Look! She is back home - my dear Lapland's girl ;) -

 and today she is wearing her own hat, when she is introducing the last Aurifil Designer 2014 BOM
- Not Afraid of Flying -

  She has not told nothing about her adventures with Santa Claus, although I have asked. Mainly because she is not allowed to talk about anything which is related to Korvatunturi and her job there. You know all what happens there is very, VERY SECRET. And besides she signed a paper, which she promised not to tell anything of she have seen or heard. Well, I just have to be happy, when she's back home ;)

I think that also Fenix is enjoying the company of Lapland's girl...

I haven't yet figured out the final setting of the blocks

... they are so different from each other...

One plan might be that I'll use only nine blocks... or I'll sew few more blocks...

OR one possibility is to use Jane Davidson's setting...

... it looks quite nice and interesting... especially I like the center spools!

The Aurifil designers 2015 is introduced and the team is fascinating, but I'm not sure, if I'll participate this year. Every designer will give us the pattern of Mini quilt not a pattern of BOM.

Minut kutsuttiin pikaisesti joulupukin pajalle kiireapulaisen toimeen kuukaudeksi. Toivottavasti se ei haittaa suunnitelmiasi, mutta olen aistinut, että täällä en ole niin paljon hyödyksi kuin siellä olisin.

Jaa-a, en tiedä mitä tästä päättelisin... pelkäsikö Lapin tyttö mahdollisesti seuraavia blokkikuvauksia? Olin nimittäin katsellut Moda -lehden kansikuvaa "sillä silmällä"...

... aika jännä tuo kuppihattu...

Lapin tytöllä ei kuitenkaan ole enää syytä huolestua hassuista hatuista, sillä vihdoinkin löysin hänen oman hattunsa.

Aurifil Designer 2014 blocks - August, September and October

 Hei kaikki Lapin tytön ystävät!!!

Täällä ollaan ja mukavaa, että tuo Satukin vihdoin sai kunnolla ompelukoneen surraamaan.

Ai niin, huomasithan uuden hienon villaisen myssyni. Se on toinen JO kesällä Tiinateiltä saamistani hatuista. Se on aivan ihastuttava ja sopii niin hyvin asuuni. Kiitos, Tiinatei!

Jaahas, olenkos minä tässä kolmen tuulen risteyksessä...

Little by little I'm achieving my sewing mojo back! Huh, hopefully I don't loose it again...

Last week I caught up the Aurifil Designer 2014 blocks.

August BOM was Aurifil Button (top right), September BOM was Stars of My Life (in the forefront) and October's block is Circle of Love.

 I'm quite pleased with my fabric choice... and I have been able to keep my theme...

... I think now you are also able to figure the same theme, which continues through the blocks.

In each block I have used at least one sewing themed fabric ;)

Oh, there's only two more blocks in this year... years seem to be shorter and shorter...

... ja minun pitää KIIREESTI löytää se Lapin tytön OMA hattu!!!!!

Kelpaisikohan hänelle marraskuun blokkiin jonkinlainen Halloween jutska... jos nimittäin hattua ei löydy ennen BOM:n valmistumista....

Aurifil's July Designer is Camille Roskelley.

She is definitely one of my favorite quilt / fabric designer. Her newest fabric line Miss Kate is out soon!

Oh, I have to spare some money to have a whole fat quarter bundle of it!

 Camille designed a very nice block for Aurifil BOM called "On the Plus Side".

Voi Fenix, sinun pitää kyllä siirtyä! Eihän siitä blokista pilkota kuin reunat!

Voihan neljäntuulen hattu!

Olen koko kesäkuun odottanut Lapin tyttöä palaavaksi kotiin... ja esittelemään tämän kuun Aurifil Designer blokkia!

Tyttöä ei vaan kuulu eikä näy!!!

Ja nyt kun hänelle olisi ollut kaksi uutta hattuakin - varmasti mieleisiäkin, koska muistuttavat paljon hänen omaa, kadoksissa olevaa hattua...

.... nimittäin .....

...ihana tilkku-blogi-ystäväni Tiinatei ahkeroi ja ompeli Lapin tytölleni KAKSI uutta hattua tämän kuun blokkiesittelyä varten.

Nine Patch on Point - Aurifil Designer 2014

Onpa nämä Aurifil BOMit nyt helppoja ja nopeita tehdä! 

Toisaalta kaltaiselleni näpertelijälle on rentouttavaa ommella isoja, yksinkertaisia blokkeja

 - aina välillä:o)

Jaahas, taitaa Lapin tytöllä olla nyt jotain sanottavaa...

"Anteeksi, mutta pitäisikö minun TODELLA laittaa tämä virkattu ruusuntekele päähäni? Siis tuolla tavalla, kuin tuossa lehdessä tuolla naisella on kukkia päässään? No way!!! Minähän näytän aivan.... aivan... kukkahattutädiltä, jolla ei kuitenkaan ole hattua.

 Niin muuten, missäs se minun hattu viipyy? Onko sitä edes etsitty näinä kuukausina?"

On etsitty... en vaan vielä ole löytänyt sitä. Voisithan sinä edes kokeilla sitä!

Aurifil's May designer is Amy Smart from Diary of a Quilter. I'm not sure. if you remember, but I sewed with her last year in Virtual Quilting Bee. You still find those blocks on her blog...

Bear Paw - Aurifil Designer 2014

Nyt kyllä huolestuttaa! Miksei sitä minun omaa hattua jo löydy?

JA miksi ihmeessä Satu teki minulle tällaisen hatun ja tämän kepin, jota hän sanoo luudaksi? Eihän tämä ole luutaa nähnytkään... mokoma lankatupsukeppi!

Lisäksi minun pitäisi - kuulemma - ensi sunnuntaina lähteä tuon Fenixin kanssa kulkemaan naapurustoon ovelta ovelle luritellen jotain virvon varvon -värssyä.... kuulostaa TODELLA epäilyttävältä touhulta!

Taitaa Satu heitellä Lapin lisiä.... ja mitähän tuokin sanonta oikeasti tarkoittaa?

No, äläpäs ole noin skeptikko, Lapin tyttö!

Palmusunnuntai menee hyvin;o)

... ulkoilette vähän Fenixin kanssa, sillä aikaa kun minä ompelen seuraavan Civil War Diary blokin.

Let's talk about this block, which you are presenting today!

 Aurifil's April designer is Angela Yosten. She is a full-time Webmaster for Moda Fabrics / United Notions. Her talented Great Grandma was the woman who inspired her to design this BOM called Bear Paw.

Angela featured some hand stitching details - red running stitches - along the inside of the paw. I'm planning to stitch them too, but not until when I'll be "in the sandwich stage"...

... hopefully you & I will see that day ;D

Aurifil's March designer is Emily Herrick of Grazy Old Ladies Quilts. Isn't the name of her company funny? Emily Herrick is new designer to me. But I enjoyed my visit on her home page. Her style is simple and modern, like the block "Borders", which she designed for us.

Do you notice... Lapland's girl hat is still missing! But the search continues! Here - during the Olympics - the atmosphere was occasionally so heat and sweaty, that we had to wash her hat. Now it's drying up! But she wanted to wear a hat in this photo. So she wears now a new knitted hat in spring color;o) Doesn't she look cute? And the color matches so well together with a new Aurifil block...

Mother's Day - Aurifil Designer 2014

Aurifil's February designer is Amy Gibson. Her block is called 'Mother's Day', because... 

"it looks like a pretty flower arrangement- just the kind of sweetness I want to send to my mom, both on Mother’s Day and every day..." (quote from Aurifil's blog)

I didn't find Lapland girl's hat last month... and because we have had a real winter weather... we had to come up with something warm to her, that she would not get the flu during the photographing. We took photos on the snow ;o)

Because the Olympic games will start this week, I think the most proper accessory to her is this woolen knitted hat. What do you think of her style? Is she ready for the Olympics?

Like Amy, also I want to give flowers to my mother on Mother's Day and every day, so I chose plenty of red roses in her basket... of course with some sewing notions.

 

It seems, that some kind of theme - a red thread - is shaping up this year's Aurifil BOMs.

Do you find a possible theme?

HUOM! Kun ompelet kahden kolmion neliöitä tätä blokkia varten niin annetut mitat ovat todella tarkat! Ainakaan minulle ei jäänyt trimmattavaa Amyn mitoilla, kuten hän ohjeessa taitaa mainitakin Minä piirsin ommelviivat ja ompelin niiden sisäpuolelta, siltikään en trimmannut juuri mitään pois. Lisäksi blokistani tuli muutama milli liian pieni, 1/8" alle 12" x 12".

Chez Claire - Aurifil Designer 2014

- a new year starts in Aurifil Designer BOM with Brigitte Heitland's block called

'CHEZ CLAIRE' or 'Spools'. Brigitte told about her block that: "It's easy to sew, since it can be with Precuts and because it can be sewn in a traditional style as well as in a fresh and modern style."

My theme last year with the Aurifil BOM blocks was precious stones.

I think that I won't have any particular theme in my blocks this year... maybe I'll try to find more compatibility with the shades of colors...

I found this - retired - pincushion girl from Lapland... and I think... she will adventure with my Aurifil 2014 Designer blocks this year! A traditional part?

She is a gift from my grandmother, who gave it to me in some year in 70-80 centuries. The girl's hat is missing... I remember, that I saw it somewhere, but I didn't find it today. Hopefully we'll find it before the end of this year... and also many beautiful blocks;o)

Did I try to find some modern style with the fabric choice?

I don't know... but I have never before used grey background fabric...
