I MUST Show you...

...THIS SBS block!

G-5 Mariner's Compass

I was very afraid of it... and thought I will never succeeded with it...
but miracles happen;)
After
some hours... much of pressing... most tiny paperpieces... bucketful of patience and concentration
VOILA!!! There it is!
...I was ready for adding many delighted comments on my SBS journal;)))

My eyes are so sore and blurred like that photo because of those tiny cross-stitches,
but I will do it - till the end.
One big problem is that the evenings are so dark and I'm lack of a good lighting - I mean REALLY good...
But I'm over the half way;)
So better use the daylight
as well as possible
and leave the computer...
... I just wanted to show you that compass...

Until next time;)

Decorating Home and Some Updates

WARNING! A lot of photos...
Hello Everyone
We are still here;)

We haven't been here for a while, because
we have been busy with our new curtains - in the living room, kitchen and bedroom.
Especially the ironing of them is so FUUUUUN - purr, purr!
Our next decoration project will be the renewing of the cushions.
But it's totally the other tale...

Here is the latest blocks of Sylvia's Bridal Sampler.
I had to search more background fabric from my stash. Luckily I found this gorgeous rose print from Makover (blocks K-3 and A-3). The range is Rose Bouquet. Unfortunately I bought it only 1/4 yard and when I tried to buy it more, it was sold out:(

I should have updated Satu's Flower Garden, on Thursday. But somehow time flies SO quick and I have felt little tired in the evenings... But better now or never...

My dear Teddy Redcheck is introducing you my pile of hexagon flowers. There is now 25 pastel flowers... and more is blooming...

Fenix also wanted to show you some
flowers. I let him introduce the latest four with three frosty flakes.

But you see, he is so big that you can't see all the flowers...

So...

I had to ask Fenix to leave and I took a new photo without him.
I'm so sorry, Fenix. I will photo you on the other time, I'll promise.

What else we have done...

A Gardener's Journal block C is still unsewn together.
Girls Day Out blocks 8&9 are really unstitched!!!
Butterfly Garden block 7 is almost done.
Only two miniblocks undone;)
My first Schnibble project 'Paganini' is... just in the beginning.

I'm feeling a bit of pressure, because all these blocks or project should be finished in this month!
IIK!!! What shall I do?
I must focus now.
So I decided...

- focus on GJ and BG
- not even try to finish GDO blocks
- try to sew as far as possible 'Paganini'

Why I decided this way,
it's because
Christmas is coming
and
I have a lot to do before it...
for example in the next week I'll cross-stitch this secret project.

Tiny stitches with only one strand of DMC.
I surely need a good lighting or spectacles.

Today we prepared the balcony for the winter.
It's looking a bit of naked...
maybe we must supply some conifers or atleast twigs of them.

Have a nice week!

PS. Don't worry, if you don't hear of us in the near future, we are probably working with the secret projects... Shh... helping Santa...

The Simple Woman's Daybook - week 40

FOR TODAY October 10, 2010

Outside my window...

It's 10.10.2010. Our national author Aleksis Kivi was born today - 176 years ago. The flags are flying in honour of him. He was a finnish author, who wrote the first significant novel in finnish language, Seitsemän veljestä in 1870 (English title: Seven Brothers).

I am thinking... of our language. There is no other nation who is speaking finnish... so maybe I am...

thankful for... that I had to learn different languages (swedish, english, german, russian) at the school to understand other people. I think it's important... although I'm not good with them...

I am currently reading... unfortunately not Seven Brothers;)... but the book of amigurumi. Have you heard of them?

These cute little fellows you'll find from the book, Super Cute - 25 Amigurumi Animals written by Annie Obaachan.

I am going... to try to crochet atleast one of them - someday;)

I was listening... (and dancing like a queen) the Gold album of ABBA, while testing

in the kitchen... a new receipt: syksyn kaali-makkarapata
(in english something like - an autumnal pot of cabbage and sausage)

Now it's steaming... I'm a bit of hungry... already...

On my mind... some words from Abba

I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

I have a dream, a fantasy
To help me through reality
And my destination makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness still another mile
I believe in angels...

Noticing that... listening of Abba makes me always singing and humming along them...

Around the house... earlier today

A Few Plans For The Week:

From my camera... a lot of photos today, but perhaps one picture will tell you more than thousands of MY bad english words...
or something like that;)

ILOISTA VIIKKOA
HAPPY WEEK

teille KAIKILLE
to you ALL!!!

I'm off to see, whether my dinner is ready...

The Simple Woman's Daybook - week 38

FOR TODAY September 26, 2010

Outside My Window... autumn leaves are flying like butterflies in the wind.

Here is the latest SBS blocks...

I-1 True Lover's Knot

and

J-4 Autumn Leaf

I am thinking... Girls Day Out quilt... and I'm again in trouble with it. I have only stitched a few stitches to the next block... only four days left... so I'll jump over this month... and try to catch in October. Anyway my goal with GDO is to stitch all stitcheries in this year and sew it together in next year!

I am thankful for... my desicion to re-schedule the GDO. I swear that it won't stay forever lasting UFO. Whatever is that...????

I am wearing... velvet trousers, olive green blouse and woollen socks - I like to wear woollen socks around the year...

In the sewing room...

So from the kitchen...
after finishing the block F, we rewarded ourselves, Fenix got tasty shrimps and I got Cappuccino with extra chocolate;) YUMMY!!!!

I am reading... I continued to read John Irving's book called Last Night in Twisted River. I started it loooong time ago....

Noticing that... I have a marking on one page of the Civil War Diary quilt book... and it's TODAY... so more sewing...

Block 108 sewed by me. The text scanned from the CWDQ book.

One of my favorite places... to purchase BOMs is Fat Quarter Shop. They always arrive in time and there is enough fabric. This evening I'm going to applique few pieces of Tiny town quilt, which I ordered from Kimberly. I'll show you it later...

A Few Plans For The Week: one hexagon flower and frosty flake, two Euro Bee blocks for Amanda... and...

This charming Mimmi -bear is living in the finnish zoo. And she stretches herself every morning.

Have a lovely week!

Nice that you spent a while with me;)

CWD: Premium Prize

September 18, 1863. 15 years old Cora Owens Hume wrote in her diary

--- It was very cold all day. I went to school and then went to the fair. Miss Lucy, Nellie and C. came home with me. They all stayed all night and we all went to the fair all day to-day. (I was seeing how often I could use all in my sentences.)---

--- There was a premium of a $50 set of furs offered by Prather ans Smith, for the best 5 lbs. of butter and Mrs. Cris Cary got it. The butter was very good, but the furs were not pretty, though a nice prize for 5 lbs. of butter.---

Today I wrote in my CWD quilt - diary

Cutting instructions of block 61. Premium Prize:

- cream: one 2"x 2" square
- lilac: two strips 2" x 1 1/4", two strips 3 1/2" x 1 1/4", and four 2" x 2" squares

And for the flying geeses

- lilac: four strips 3 1/2" x 2"
- green: eight 2" x 2" squares

I'm bit nervous, have I measured and cutted the pieces right...
and have I choosed the right fabrics...
Well, soon I'll see it!

Hmm... quite nice!
I'm glad that I didn't paperpieced this block,
although I first thought about it.

I have now sewn 52 CWD blocks. There is 121 blocks in the whole quilt. So I'm quite near the half-way.
Here you'll find all my blocks. I just scheduled the rest of the CWD -year and I'll try to make atleast seven more. I know, it's not many, but I still keep the plan: I sew the CWD block at the same day, when there is a diary note in the book.

The next date is 26th of September...
until then...

Happened in Satu's Flower Garden This Evening

"I don't like paparazzies!

Purrr.... Please, leave and
let me continue
my nap
on this cosy
ironing board!"

"Ok! Then I'll take a photo of these flowers and frosty flakes."

"No way! Not without me!
May I touch that flower -
a little bit - while you are taking a photo?"

Dear Fenix,

you are hopeless;)))
and sweet...
