Viimeinen päivä Sukkasatoa

Sain nostetuksi yhteensä 15 paria sukkaisia perunoita Sukkasatoon!

LUS BOW: A-7 Beacon Lights

"Strike while the iron is hot."
... and I strike indeed... as long as my enthusiasm lasts...

... maybe I was too excited, because the seams of A-7 are a little bit here and there and everywhere, a bit wonky!... But who cares.. just a small error... it won't show, when the all blocks are together...

By the way I have finally - seriously - started to sew SBS blocks together...
I keep blocks in plastic pockets and you know, I need them now for new blocks;o)

... here is first three rows...

Happy Sewing and Knitting Sunday!!!

Loyal Union Sampler

This is what I did, when Fenix was watching birds...
I SEWED my first three Loyal Union Sampler blocks!!!

I could not resist a two-year-long quilt project after I saw Anne Ida's Loyal Union Sampler quilt. She also writes a lot of info about LUS on her blog. So I ordered Jennifer's LUS book (got it last Friday)...

... and I remembered that I have stored a perfect fabric line to use for this sampler quilt -
Moda 3 Sisters' Luna Notte. Yes, I'm doing again quite a romantic quilt...

Maybe you now wonder why this lasts two years? Actually it lasts over two years, because there is 121 blocks and I'm going to sew it as a BOW (= one block in a week) -style. The same style as I sewed Sylvia's Bridal Sampler blocks. In Yahoo is a LUS -group, but I'm not going to join it... at least not yet.

First FOUR blocks... from the upper left corner...

A-1 Abel's Favorite, B-2 Camp Curtain
K-7 Winged Square, D-9 Gerda's Puzzle... to the down right.

I don't know, what fascinates me in these samplers...
Maybe it is that the every block is it's own 'person' and I noticed that during the sewing of SBS blocks I learned much of different kind of quilting techniques. AND of course I learned to handle SMALL pieces;o) The blocks are again 6" blocks.

I gather all my LUS blocks on the same picture that you are able to follow my progress too;o) if you like... (I put it on blog's sidebar)

Of course we are writing notes during our life with LUS...

as I wrote all down from the SBS journey...
later on, they have been fun to read... all those sewing errors and successes mixed with the notes out of my ordinary life...

... so these notes are for personal use only.

Hopefully you enjoy our journey with LUS as much as we!?! And of course it's not too late, if you like to join and sew these blocks with us... our LUS journey is just beginning!

Happy Stitching wherever you are!!!

Going on Here...

... something!
The approaching festive season has caused more than a mountain of wool socks growth here...
(perhaps a word mountain was a bit of an exaggeration)
... but we have seen several different kind of flying things.
Isn't that a clear proof of festive season is coming...

... if we had seen an angel or two here?

We have also seen birds both inside and outside of the house...

... and would you ever believe we have something finished to show you today!!!! TADAA!!!

Fenix, could you move a little bit, that I can take a picture!.... (After a while...) Do you hear me, Fenix? Move yourself... a little bit...... PLEEEEASE!!!

Can't you see, Satu, I'm all too purr-purr -busy NOW! There's a lot of flying birds on the backyard!!! Purr-purr! What a sight!!!
Oh well, really a hopeless case THAT cat!

AFTER several hours I finally got the picture taken WITHOUT Fenix...

So here it is... our newest tablerunner, which was an UFO! Did you saw a word was?
I started this table runner in October 2011... sandwiched it in the next year and finally quilted and even binded it yesterday:o)

Table runner's measurements are
34 cm width & 89 cm length.
The pattern is 'Black Bird's Pumpkin Patch' by Waltzing with Bears. I'm not sure, if it is available anymore... I remember, that I purchased it from Norway, from Lappemor.

I'm more or less satisfied with it. The 'only' thing, which irritates me is that I didn't noticed in time that I had sewn a thin black border around unevenly... krrr! Now the binding looks very uneven, although it is not. Oh, and then... I quilted it maybe too densely... and...

Puurr-pur -well-well-well! What's happening in here, Satu?

Oh, nothing... you'll get your table runner back for a bird watching, if you like;o)

Next time we'll show you, what I did when Fenix earlier was watching birds...

Happy Sunday to YOU!!!!

Huggermugger...

.. not quite, but as you can see, in a sewing room my working has not been well-organized.  There is several different projects going on... may I say all too many...

I don't know why, but I just can't decide, which one of the progressing work is the most important. Isn't it peculiar?

Maybe the reason is that I "HAVE" to knit those socks!!!

But there is also a huge hugger-mugger on the upper shelf...

Well, at least I sewed the two last blocks of Virtual Quilting Bee. I even surprised myself, because I sewed them all and in schedule ;o) BRAVO me!!!

Virtual Quilting Bee blocks #15 and #16.

The blocks passed also the inspection of Fenix... huh!
Now I have to think about the layout...

... actually I have already cut the pieces for extra star blocks. I need ten star blocks more... therefore I really have one idea of the layout.. but that idea means that this top is not ready yet... there is still muuuuch work!
Hopefully THAT doesn't mean that I won't ever finish this quilt either.

I wish I would have a better ability to organize my quilting hobby...
... or maybe I only prefer on the way than arrive...
Oh, what nonsense I'm talking again.... where the needles are?

I wish you a SUPERlovely Sunday!!!

Stairway

Once again... it's that time of the month that we know, who is the designer of Aurifil's BOM.

In October she is Allison Harris from CluckCluckSew! I have followed her blog for a while and I like her fresh, simple and modern quilting style!!!

Her block's name is 'Stairway'... maybe you already guessed it... that a rock and roll song, which inspired her is Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven'.
Oh, Robert! He is so... hmm... young in that video-clip!!!

It is a few years since the last time I heard that song... and listened my collection-cd of Led Zeppelin. I think I must tell you the reason why I haven't listened it... Because it rises all too much memories of my youth and of my friends (especially one) at the 80's. Then we all were young and happy(?)... but afterwards those memories turned not so golden... or actually THOSE memories remained the same...  but memories, which were related to that person blackened after two decades... and it felt that I should forget all, which reminds me of him including a wonderful music of Led Zeppelin!!!
That's life, why should I forget? Life is always filled with joys and sorrows!
Oh, this tale turned very personal outpouring... I didn't mean to...
BUT isn't the main thing in quilting that we store our memories to our quilts!!!
So I better go and search for a fine precious stone (= a color theme) for my next Aurifil block;o)

... There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold ...

Tadaa, I found it!
I'm gonna introduce to you a watermelon tourmaline!!

Before this week... or block... I hadn't heard of any tourmaline (suomeksi turmaliini). It's a prized jewel. Tourmaline occurs in more shades than any other stone, from pale yellow to black. It's bright and colorful varieties are being used gems. Tourmaline facilitates the fatigue and anemia, as well as it increases the success and love. Hmm... Psychologically it helps to understand themselves and others...
I think a watermelon tourmaline block is an excellent addition to my precious stone quilt;o)

... When we all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll...

.. and from now on I'm gonna listen LedZ more often;o)

Happy weekEND to you!!!
