CWD: Alarming Conditions

May 28, 1862. Rachel Young King Anderson wrote in her diary

This terrible war that has been raging since the 12th of April, 1861 seems to be just begun. During last year the South was successful in most of the battles. That is at Fort Sumpter, Manassas, Leesburg and many others. This year the tide has turned. The North has been victorious in most of the important engagements; they now have possession of all the Border States and many of important points on the coast and rivers. The state is in an alarming condition. Towns, farms, houses are being burned, men hung or shot, women accidentally killed and wounded, children crippled or killed by careless soldiers.

I was planning to sew two CWD blocks in this month, but it remained at the dreaming level... Oh dear... BUT I'm extremely happy to show you atleast one new block for my CWD quilt:)))

BLOCK 1. Alarming Conditions

The yarns, knitting and crocheting kept me busy in May. So I only sewed few other blocks for the SBS. And my sewing skills are about to begin get rusty... I just noticed that today...

I have now few days of holiday, BEFORE I'll start again the job at the park department of Kotka. Oh, I surely would like to have much more holiday in this summer. But I must earn some money before the school will continue in August. This year seems to be much harder than I first thought. I hope all this is worth of all hard work... I'll try to not take it too serious;)

PS. This new version of blogger almost drove me grazy last week... especially when I lost my sidebar... hopefully it works right and properly for now on...
Sunny weekend to every one...
I'm happy you read my tales;)
THANK you!!!!

So far 6 OPAMs in May...

... A VERY good ACCOMPLISHMENT...
although there is four felted project...

The most challenging of felted projects was definitely a Teddy Bear.
I felted it over pieces of plasticfoam.

On the cellphone case I use one of the woollen ribbons, which I have also made at the school in this spring. I'll show more ribbons later... and try to explain, how they are made... in English it's difficult for me...

I felted the 'Slide' (on the first photo at the right below) in the washing-machine. I used different kind of woollen yarns and small tufts of wool.

At the end of this past week I concentrated to finish a vintage cushion... It was a birthday present to one of my five brothers. The party was yesterday... so I can today show you the picture of cushion...

(Sorry, photos are blurry...)
I printed some old photos on the cotton... and sewed some hexagons together... and found cushion with feathers for the inside...

The sixth OPAM is a toyball for the youngest member of our family. She got a name Enni Tuulia and that ball last weekend;)

There has been plenty happenings lately... and there is plenty more coming...

Happeningsful week to you too;)))

Fixed Stars for May

As we all know TIME flies...
it's again time to remember the past month
and look hopefully ahead...

Because I want to keep this happy feeling as long as possible I tell you first
I had four OPAMs in April. Can you believe FOUR????
1. felted mugrug 2. shopping bag 3. crocheted scarf and 4. patchball
Oh, maybe some of you think they were small scale OPAMs,
but you know,
they ARE finished!
And that's the whole idea /point;))) Isn't it....

Ok, I'm starting a landing now... landing to the real world...
what really happened to the fixed Stars of April...
fasten your seat belt, please;)

1. Catch up the SBS and 1880's Sampler. - Catched up SBS blocks, but not the 1880's Sampler. I'm now 3 - THREE - blocks behind!!!! And I don't know, when I'll reach you, Cheryl:(((
2. Continue Tis the Season with two blocks. - DONE!
3. Finish the rosy bag. - NO PROGRESS! Journey with it has been very stony... but it will be one fixed Star in May! I won't give up;)
4. Sew 5 CWD blocks. - DONE!
5. Spare time for Shooting Stars - really DONE! All the OPAMs were Shooting Stars, not planned objects.

But April 2011 is already part of HISTORY ...
;) Are you ready for the boarding of the next flight?

1. Continue with TIS (2), SBS (4), CWD (2) and 1880's blocks (try to catch up)
2. Finish felted UFO's
3. Go crazy with yarns
4. Do colourful hexagon flowers
5. Be busy with Rosy bag

Is this plan reasonable... honourable... tempting...
enough...
That we will see within next month...

I hope
you enjoyed your visit

Joyful week!
