BOMs of Weekend

Before I tell you some BOM (Rehab) news...

I show you this photo, which proves that Fenix had very busy Christmas Eve. He had to munch all the strips of the presents, before I had a time to open them. Luckily he only munched them, not ate.
We'll show you later, what kind of joys, we found ;o)

This weekend I finally had time to sew November's and December's blocks of the 2012 Designer Mystery.

On the left is block 6 called 'Town Square' and on the right is block 7 'Moonlight Serenade'. I believe that the latter is the best of them so far.

The mystery BOM is now slightly over half way - five months is left.
Because it is that time of year - again - when we are (all?) making New year's resolutions, I think I can promise myself that I'll finish this 2012 DM quilt before the end of year 2013.

And if I remember right I had already promised to keep my schedule in the other BOM too...

Till now I have received two of the seven block kits of the Pumpkinville. In June 2013 I'll receive the border and the binding fabrics. Hmm... plenty of time before the end of the year! So I'm confident and I'm gonna promise to finish also it before the end of the next year.

Maybe at this moment it's better not to promise anything more...

so it's time to wish you all...
whether you are near or far away...

our dear blogger friends!!!

We are so glad that you share our joys and sorrows of life quilt...

Fourth Advent...

... and Santa Claus is on the way. Only one night and he's at our place!

Oh, I feel so lucky that I live so near at the North pole, SC will arrive in time, although the weather wouldn't so good. But this year the weather is perfect for Santa Claus to drive in his sleigh, we surely have enough snow and also cold, so the snow won't smelt away.

One thing, which is also exciting is a Christmas tree and Fenix. This is the first time, when we have it inside the house. I hope that I won't find him at the top of the tree ;o)

At least now all is calm and he relaxes on the wool blanket.

Ok, maybe I tell you that I was really horrified in this morning. When I was at the breakfast, I heard some terrible noise from the living room. Fenix played with his favorite ball AROUND the Christmas tree. The tree seemed to be the eye of the hurricane! It turned around and tumbled, but luckily didn't fall. Only one decoration flied away and some candles changed places...

Have I ever told you that Fenix's second name is Gafilo? Gafilo was a powerful tropical cyclone, which struck Madagascar in March 2004. Hmm... I think his breeder gave him an excellent name ;o)

I think I'll go now next to Fenix, enjoying the scent of the spruce, candles light and warmth of mulled wine... Oh, life is so wonderful!

Again came the festive season,
welcome it's magic:
fill your heart with love and your mind with joy!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to YOU!!!
HAUSKAA JOULUMIELTÄ Teille Kaikille!!!

Third Advent...

... and coasters for the blue lovers ;o)

The idea for these mug blocks I got from Lori's Row along. She designed those cute cups of cocoa for the row 6. Her blocks are 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" without sashings.
I think that size of the coaster would be a good one, so I reduced some of the pieces.

For example the cup piece is 3 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" tall rectangle and for easy corner triangles I cut 1" squares. The handle pieces I cut as Lori did, but I had to improvise a little when I sewed. The sashing strips are 1 " wide.

The finished coaster is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".
I'm sure I'll sew them more in someday.
All Lori's Row along blocks have been fabulous so far...
I only dream more time to... maybe next year...

with snowy greetings...

Vielä Ehtii Jouluksi...

... vaikkapa virkata tähtiä tai lumihiutaleita kuusen koristeiksi!

Löysin näiden virkattujen tähtien ohjeen Suuri Käsityö -lehden viime vuoden joulunumerosta eli 11-12 / 2012.

Jos et saa käsiisi kyseistä lehteä, löytyy samat tähdet mm. täältä FiinaNeuleen sivuilta. (malli 6).

Here is the pattern of the crocheted snowflake. You'll find this and more of patterns here. There is only three rounds, so they really are quick to make.

I Wish YOU
enjoyable CROCHETing moments;o)

Second Advent

I promised to reveal the secret of  this little package...

... today, on the second Advent.

I guessed that there is something jangling inside... like jingle bells...
... but I had no idea how many things there would be.
THERE WAS MANY...

... and I have never seen so tiny bells: the pink bell's diameter is about 6 mm.
Thank you, my dear SSCS pal Sue!
I'm really looking forward to a Christmas Eve now!!!

The flu, which I mentioned last time, is still disturbing my Christmas plans.

Although I have tried to do - at least something - the most of the planned I must just forget. So I realized this Christmas train went already...

But as I said... I have tried... otherwise my cheeks wouldn't be this red...

In the evenings, after working days...

... I have knitted few extraXS - size socks for my...

And crocheted few more embellished snowflakes for the Christmas cards...

I only wonder, when I have time to finish them...

I also sewed a needle book imitating one of the Anni Downs' pattern...

... but the photo of it you'll see after Christmas, because I made it for...

Oh, I do love this time of the year with all it's SECRETS;o)

I'm glad you popped here and

HAPPY NEW WEEK to YOU!!!!

First Advent

When I today look outside, the landscape is WHITE...
the grey, dark days are gone... hopefully as long as possible.

 Feels so christmassy!
Aah... I do love the candles in the dark room... and I almost hear the elves snooping behind the corner...
...hmmm... at least I'm hearing some odd noise...

I wonder what Fenix is doing????

Purr-Oh! I wonder why all nice things must be hang all too high!!!
BUT in some way I'll pur-catch up that ball!
Look, Satu, finally I got it!!!

OMG, I must be happy, that you didn't get that ceiling lamp too...

In the sewing room has been quiet during the last days
partly because of the flu, which I got on Wednesday
and partly because it still continues.

But this morning I dragged myself there
and did some paper-piecing.
Oh, it took forces...

... now I must do some lighter work...

Fenix, do you remember the small SSCS parcel from Sue
which I promised we will open today...

I see that you are one step ahead of me...
PURR-PURR! Look at these pur-cutest socks!!!
Have you ever seen anything so cute as these are?
Fenix, you really are a sock addict!

And yes, they really are CUTE!!!
Look, there is one more parcel in the other sock ;o)
That's why I'm going to rescue them and put somewhere safer place!
TADAA! They look perfect with our Christmas wall hanging.
Don't you agree?

A mystery of a small parcel will be resolved next Sunday...
until then

HAPPY WEEK to YOU!!!
