Secret SCS Parcel Is no Secret Anymore

Late last night I...
oj, sorry Fenix...
WE opened our SSCS present from Jenny.
Our Christmas tree is a little cypress and the Kangoroo has found a new place sitting comfortably on one branch of cypress. Maybe you remember Jenny's main parcel was a big one...

... and inside there was...
1. ADORABLE Hootie bag... I love all of it: colours, prints, size, shape, the owl, the button, inside pockets and... you know ALL!!! Later you'll see I'm not the only one here to love it ;o)
2. HUMOROUS Decoration... "Quilting for ever, housework when ever"... I think no other sentence can describe my life better :o)
3. YIPPEE!!! More aussie sentiment for my home. Lovely piece of cotton with aboriginal (?) print and koala stickers ;))) My secret dream is to travel to Australia some day... UPS! I relieved one more secret ;)

Well, I'm sure you did all your best to delight me on this Christmas, Jenny...
but I think you didn't success only delight me...
but you gave me piece of your country...
so I'm one or two steps closer to my dream :o)
THANK YOU, thank you, KIITOS, JENNY
for this regardful present!!!

... and you notice
the bag is carefully INSPECTED
and
PROVED to be a very cosy lying place.
Hopefully I may use it too...

We wish you more relaxing days...
we'll be back with the other nice things...

A Rustle of Giftpapers...

.. is getting louder and louder here...
Today and tomorrow is time to wrap the last gifts...

... and only two nights, then these pot holders are again unwrapped.

Also Bev (my SSCS friend in this year) may unwrap her parcels in Australia

Thank you Moomins, you did your job well...
You can't imagine, how relieved I was, when I saw this photo on Bev's blog. I had few lousy nights because of worrying that packet... The delivering took much more longer than the post officer estimated.
Now all is fine ;o)

 We'll meet again after Christmas...
until then
my faithful dear friends...
Let your heart be light
and have merry time with your closest!

Fourth Advent...

... and still no SNOW!
It's only raining and raining.... AND raining!
It's dark, windy and dirty outside...

... so it's better stay inside and clean the house for the Christmas.

Fenix: First I cleaned one of the shelves in the sewing room. During past months Satu has gathered all kind of stuff on it... and I decided they are not there anymore...

... well, now they are on the floor!
And one odd piece is on my head!!!

Look, Fenix what we got the other day...

A lovely Christmas decoration, a card and a pincushion from Katrin!

It's not a bad feeling at all wandering around the house with this new 'cap'

Or does it look... too girlish???

But Satu, What are YOU doing????
We supposed to clean this house.... NOT doing any crafty projects!!!

Ok, Fenix!
But May-Britt's stitching pattern is so cute. Maybe I'll use it on a Christmas stocking.
And I want to try also Anne's new pattern called It's Raining Cats and Dogs.
The birdie trio is the first UFO, which I'll finish in January. Haven't you heard that I'll finish atleast one UFO in every month in 2012?

Don't you pur-pur-laugh at me, Fenix!
This time I'm very serious! Otherwise we'll be drowned... all these UFOs...

PurrrrRelax, Satu!
Look, I organized more nice coloured mat on this floor!
.. and... pur-jättekiva :o)
you also have done something...

Now...

it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here
... only few nights... and then...

We are very happy
that you found a moment to visit here...
  ... It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas;
soon the bells will start,
and the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing
right within your heart.

Third Advent with...

... Christmas cards!!!

And on the cutting mat - a totally chaos! Does not look like a space in the sewing room...

I choosed two main theme for the cards in this year...

FENIX says:

I'm off! Too much pastel colours!!!!
See you again, when you are handling some nicer colours!

and the second theme is...

Oh, Fenix is back :o)

Now almost all Christmas cards are written and in the envelopes...
only three of them are still 'under consideration' :o)
Lucky - there is also still time for them!

Fenix says:
I wish you merry preChristmas time!!!!

PS. If it only can be... there is more terrible chaos in the sewing room....

Moomin Characters' Has an Important Role...

... in this year's SSCS!

Tomorrow they will start their journey to my SSCS pal, who lives in...
hmmm... far, far away from Finland.
Hopefully they'll manage well....
I'm very sure they will arrive savely, BECAUSE they ARE Moomins;o)

In this 'busy' week I finished one pincushion...

... it's 'Ivy's Bloom',
a pattern of Janelle Wind's collection.

SKofW and Lost Measurements...

I know I should have done something else today, but I couldn't resist to see these blocks together, because I have seen many beautiful SKofW - Stitch-a-long startings...

... and I was missing my B. Aurora...
... atleast
after seeing these two mittens... :o)

the other one looks like it belongs to a GIANT and the other one is maybe a gnome's mitten...
uuuh... Have I lost my talent to knit... mittens for an adult???

Maybe this 'mitten' looks better...????
Or not...

... weeks of the secrets are continued !!!

I'm glad you popped in...
with hugs Satu and veeeery busy Fenix.

Three finishes for SSCS...

:o)
... but I won't show you them... today!
(only Chookyblue knows - soon - my secrets)
How is your progress in the SSCS?

So this week I haven't plenty to show...

... but Fenix found a new hobby!
A playing with the TSURUs.
One evening I had time to practise some origami
(we were doing them at my 'learning at the work' -place)
and next morning I woked up hearing some odd noise. Fenix had found a one paper-crane and played with it. Luckily it was only paper...
By the way... I heard,
when you have made a one thousand, your wish will come true?
Oh, ONLY 997 left ;o)

Tomorrow begins the last week of my period in learning at the work (I don't know, whether that's a right term, but hopefully you know what I mean...)
... so after one week... it's time to go back to school...
and finish the unfinished homeworks! And there is many of them...
KRR... lazy girl!!!
Also there is a Christmas bazaar coming... and I should make something for it too...
Because of all... it's possible
that here won't be any sewing pictures either on the next week.

First I must concentrate on this...
the sewing of the rug pillow is in the half-way...

... wishing you a secretful week... hyssssssss....

An Odd Feeling...

... not because of Halloween Night, but because

... they (= SBS blocks) are ALL (= 140) sewn!!!

The trip began...

on Saturday 8.11.2008
with C-10 Night & Noon
and ended today 31.10.2011
with K-2 The Friendship Quilt

... it was a huge trip... a lot of up- and downhills!

I wrote short diary notes of every block...

there is details of doing ...

fabrics, problems ...
... about weather ...

and of course happenings of my life ...

The blocks were stored in a red folder...

...there is blocks for a one row in a one plasticpocket... but those pockets are now too thick to fit all in the file...

Now I'm going to forget SBS blocks... and concentrate to sewing them together in 2012.

As often happens...

Fenix wanted to inspect the quality of the block

Happy first week of November!!!!
and Boo :o)

Finished UFO (?)

Hey Satu, look this is
a PuRRfect CATWALK!

Oh, is it? I thought it would be our new tablerunner...
which is finALLy finished!
It has been waiting for binding few months...
this morning I grabbed the needle and voila...
atleast something done in this week...

... also I practised to applique with the B. Aurora...

Can you believe, this is my first attempt to applique with the machine...
Although I have had an opportunity to use machine,
I have always trusted
and felt more sure about appliqueing by hand...
Tomorrow
maybe more hourglasses for two different projects...

SPookY(?) WeeKENd to you!!!

Week 42...

At first Mill Girl's news

There is now four block ready
and a small pile of hourglasses and the other pile of HSTs.
The goal for the week 43 is three blocks and more HGs and the rest of HSTs.
Original MG has twenty blocks,
but I realised that I would be more pleased with 16 blocks...
then the quilt will be a square, which I might need now more than...

Then I finished the second OPAM in October

It's a crocheted Salomon's knot scarf. The 'knots' are bigger than usually.

The yarn is wool with mohair, so the scarf feels some rough. I'm considering to freeze it as Mai did with her itching scarf.

These small mug rugs are inspired by Maritta
She showed on her blog how to do nice little stars using two size of pentagons.

Today

I finished applique for the mini-quilt...
and
one appliqued block for the

Some Kind of Wonderful (SKofW).

I'm happy you stopped a while...
so in the end

I wish you delicious Sunday!!!

Mill Girl's Quilt is Launched

 Anne Ida planned
that on the first week of MG Quilt-along we would make a final decision of fabrics, cut them and sew 30 hourglass blocks.
This evening I started to sew some hourglasses, but then I wanted to see one 12" block finished.
I have five colours:
pink, green, lilac, yellow and blue
and I needed help to arrange them well...

... I have years ago purchased Joen Wolfrom's book Colorplay...
tonight I found it very useful;)

in the end... before the bedtime...

the pressing of one hourglass

Goodnight!!!!
