OPAMs in September

1. a basket, made of crocheted hexagons
2. the PUMPKIN;)
3. two crocheted pot mats

and few moments more
  from last days of September

1. I'm thinking of take part in Mill Girls quilt-a-long. I haven't yet entered for it..., but I have cut the pieces for the blocks. If you became interested in it, you can read more here. Quilt-a-long starts on Friday 14th of October... so there is still plenty (?) of time for selecting the fabrics...
2. I have gathered mushrooms for the dyeing and
5. for the food
3. I have started a new applique project. It's a pattern from Lori Smith's book called Fat-Quarter Quilting
4. I have dyed the yarns with plants - mainly at the school, but some yarns home too;)

With this short tale I wish you all
LOVELY WEEKEND!!!

Riddles...

... do you guess, what I'm doing here?

No, I'm not teasing Satu...
(although it surely looks like that)
... I'm crocheting

... two pieces of pot mats! They are our first OPAMs in September.
(Ok, I admit. Satu helped me a little.)
Now I'm trying to guess, with whom Satu is playing...

She has interesting yellow yarn...

That's a nice riddle for Sunday;)

PS. The top of Summer Day is finished;)
I (or should I say Satu & I) decided to make (narrow) yellow sashings together with black flower fabric. Now all the fabrics are dated from 80's.

An Easy Brain Training

Have you remembered to train your brain lately?

A good, deep sleep is very useful for them... but may I tell you,
how a patch addictive person - like me - will train her brain in the rain....
oh, those words are rhyming nicely ;)
All you have to do is...

1. Choose an easy or difficult sudoku.
Be sure it's easy enough that you are able to solve it!

2. So solve it :o)...
This is fun! Do you feel how your brains are working and enjoying?

 3. After that choose nine different fabrics. Cut them in squares - 9 squares of each fabric. Mine are this time 1 1/2" squares.

I also numbered each pile of fabric to 1 till 9. This way it's easier to follow and find right fabrics for the right places...

The funny rainy day is continueing...

OH, Fenix woked up to solve his problem, and training his brain differentially...
thinking
- which fabric is matching with these flying geeses????
Please, would you be so nice and help him...
- what do you think about this black grounded fabric?

... now back to the theme...
4. Use the solved sudoku as a pattern for your 9 -patch blocks.

Sew all nine 9 -patch blocks...

... and when they are all done, piece them together... following the sudoku pattern.
EASY PEASY;)
and your brains got a good (morning) training!
Sorry, I'm in the rhyme mood today ;o)

Well, now I'm exercising my brains little more...

... shall I piece these 9- patches straight together or...
shall I use the narrow sashings???
Would you, please, help again?

 With this tale
we wish you a nice "training" weekend;)

I Have Learnt to Love...

... the flying geese!
I tried to take a photo of Summer Day -blocks without Fenix, but it was just impossible.

I don't know why, but I have never liked sewing flying geese. I have always had problems to get the shape and size of them correct. So I tried to different methods... and after trial...

... this method is definitely my favorite one. There is no waste pieces and the size of miniblocks is always correct.

... and with these special rulers sewing of FGs is becoming more and more funny
and

SBS-mania is growing... only eight blocks ahead... WOW!
This week I made two blocks
F-10 Aunt Sukey's Choice
and
I-10 Rocky Road to Dublin

In the end
few glimpses of the next week...

tablerunners and finnish rug.

wishing you
RELAXING SUNDAY;)

Don't Ask WHAT I'm Doing...

... because I don't even know myself;)

All I know is that I have been lazy student... UPS!
... and it's late,
I should be already in bed... second UPS!
early wakening tomorrow...
BUT I want to show you something which is caused by listening music of ABBA
It feels like... 70's again...
especially when I found those old fabrics (little flowers, blue and candy pink) from my stash.
Yesterday evening I visited at Sherri and at Sinta
... knowing that there is FREE CHOICE in September for Le Petit project
AND Carrie has published 6 new pattern of Schnibbles;))

SUMMER DAY looks most interesting!

... so I started to piece some flying geese
with two different method...
The woollen ribbon is one of the school projects...

I also sewed BOW for SBS - E-8 Lincoln's Platform
Only ten blocks left;)))

... although I don't know what I'm doing..

... Fenix does! Atleast he's pretending to know... :o)
He's measuring the size and cosiness of 'Mystery' -tablerunner, which is almost done. Only the handstitches of the binding is missing...

Now I must go to sleep...
5 1/2 hours dreaming and then back to the school... dyeing yarns with plants...

COLOURFUL WEEK to YOU!
Happy that you stayed with us;)
